100 Hours on the Farm – Godstone Farm

As the leaves turn from green to yellow, red and brown and there’s a crisp freshness to the air, it’s inevitable that we start to hunker down and turn-up the central heating, but Godstone Farm is challenging families to get outdoors and embrace the weather, with its new winter campaign, “100 Hours on the Farm”. Children will be able to collect a stamp with each hour they enjoy on the farm from 1st November 2021 until 30th March 2022, and those who manage to reach 100 stamps, will win a free family visit with drinks for adults and treat for the children.*

Nicola Henderson, CEO at Godstone Farm comments: “Not only have we launched a special Winter Warmer Pass for families – which gives unlimited weekday term-time access to the farm – but our 100 Hours on the Farm campaign is designed to encourage families to embrace the great outdoors and the benefits of a day spent in our 45 acres of Surrey hills countryside with abundant fresh air.”

“There is a sense that the Great British public have got a lot hardier over that last year, with waterproofs and wellies regularly at hand, thanks to the series of lockdowns we have experienced; and perhaps one fortunate bi-product of that is recognising how good the great outdoors can be for our children.”

The team at Godstone Farm firmly subscribe to the theory that ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes’, so even if the heavens have opened, there’s so much to do. The animals still need to be fed, the pigs will be taking their daily exercise, and the ponies winter coats will need a good stroke. In addition, as part of the admission, each Monday and Friday there is storytime and craft making at the Mini Treks and Trails session – and not forgetting puddles which are made for jumping in!

When asking some of the team what their favourite things to do at Godstone, whatever-the-weather, they said:

  • Mike our Gardener says, “It’s at this time of year that I’m sowing potatoes for next year, but they’re also a perfect winter warmer for a lunchtime pitstop in the restaurant.”
  • Rosie our Operations Manager says, “Our Highland cows, Heidi and Hettie – they are made for Scottish weather and I’m always inspired by their warm coats, which reminds me that a warm coat can take you anywhere!”
  • Carina, Events Co-ordinator says: “Our new meerkats provides a lot of entertainment. They are very attentive little creatures and are especially good at patrolling their enclosure.”
  • Emma, Visitor Experience Manager says: “Our new dinosaur trail is my favourite spot on the farm. Seven dinosaurs can be found hiding under the canopy of our woodland trail, with lots of fun facts about each one!”

Henderson adds: “Of course, there are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy a warm Barista-style coffee and lunch in our new courtyard restaurant or enjoy a heart-warming cuddle with the bunnies in the petting barn, or get little hearts and lungs racing in the play barn.”
