Win a Copy of the Amazing Mumbles and The Tall tree Wood by Sian Spencer – Little (plus a cuddly hedgehog and a wooden bug house)

Mumbles and the Tall Tree Wood is a children’s book, all about a hedgehog called Mumbles and a mouse called Doris, they both live in Tall Tree Wood, but Mumbles worries quite a lot, especially about the dark, and being lonely.

Doris wants to be his friend and so she helps him, with kindness and understanding and a little help from some friends.

One of the many reasons I created the characters in the book, is that often we don’t have stories where worries and loneliness are talked about, stories that also recognise that worries can be really overwhelming, and look and feel very different, in each person.

Children and young people who can be worried, find it tricky to say they are, or to find the right language to describe it, my hope is that through Mumbles and Doris they can see that it is ok to share a worry, and to have representation in a book that describes what that looks and feels like, and the response with kindness and understanding, means they feel heard.

Everyone worries about something, at some time, and that is ok.

The book is suitable as a sharing book from 2 years upwards- with a gentle reminder it is about being afraid of the dark.

To find out more about the brilliant Sian Spencer – Little and where you can purchase copies of her debut book – read our post here.

Win a Family Camping Ticket to The Elderflower Fields Family Festival at the end of May 2024

A wild weekend family adventure, packed full of music, sports, nature and the arts, all set in the heart of the beautiful Sussex countryside on the 24th – 27th May 2024

Elderflower Fields is a small, safe and friendly festival, designed especially for families with younger children. We believe in the transformative power of spending time immersed in nature, letting kids be a little bit wild and free, and in appreciating great food and the arts together with friends.

Elderflower Fields was born in 2012 out of a desire to create a new festival designed especially for families and kids. In our first year we really didn’t know what to expect. Intending to produce a party for a few hundred friends and family, our plans snowballed and before we knew it, we had sold over a thousand tickets. What is more surprising is that everyone loved it! The sun shone, kids played and we danced in the beautiful surroundings of the Bentley estate.

It was so popular that we did it again in 2013 and this time twice as many people came – largely encouraged through word of mouth from the previous year’s customers. We had more kids activities, more music and more delicious local food & drink. And the sun even came back too!

In 2014 we moved to a new, bigger venue, Pippingford Park. It’s beautiful, hilly and wild, and it has become a great home to us over the years.

We intentionally keep Elderflower Fields small – it’s part of what makes it such a safe and special weekend for families. But we also try to increase the quantity and quality of the activities and performances every year, so that there’s always something new and exciting for our guests.  To find out more about the Festival visit south.elderflowerfields.co.uk

To be in with a chance of winning visit our Competitions Entry Page and answer this question:  In what year did The Elderflower Fields Festival hold it’s first event?  a) 2010 b) 2011 or c) 2012

Closing date for entries is midnight on the 23rd February 2024.  Winners will be picked at random.
