The Collective is launching its new Pudstars Dessert Yoghurts and Supercharged Suckies this September and October, and both I and my six year old were more than happy to take on the difficult job of taste‑testing them.
Pudstars and Suckies are dessert inspired yoghurts designed to bring the flavours of favourite puddings into a healthier, child‑friendly format. Pudstars are made with live whole milk yoghurt, real fruit and no artificial ingredients, and are aimed at children aged 4–8. That said, once you’ve tried them, the kids may struggle to get a look in, they’re genuinely really good (N.B. The Collective does make grown‑up yoghurts too!).
The Pudstars range launches with four flavours: Apple Crumble, Banana & Custard, Strawberries & Cream and Vanilla Custard.
I’m not a regular yoghurt eater and my six‑year‑old only has them occasionally these days, but we were both won over immediately. The packaging is bright, fun and appealing, the kind that tempts you before it even reaches the fridge. When they hit the shelves, the sleeves will also include jokes, puzzles and colouring activities, which is a nice touch.
The taste test began with the Apple Crumble flavour, and it genuinely tasted like the real thing. The gentle hint of cinnamon gave me an unexpected wave of nostalgia, and the yoghurt itself had the perfect texture, it was creamy, fresh and surprisingly filling, and all without any sense of guilt.
My son approached the Banana & Custard pot cautiously, tried a bit, paused, took a second spoonful, paused, and then announced it was “really good”, which was solid praise from him. He then finished the pot without any further conversation.
Each Pudstar pot is just the right size: satisfying for an adult, but still leaving you wanting a little more. Luckily, we had two more flavours to try, and my younger taste‑tester was keen to continue his “reviewing”. Strawberries & Cream and Vanilla Custard disappeared faster than planned and were both excellent. In short all of the flavours delivered on providing a traditional pudding experience wrapped up in a great yoghurt.
The Collective is also expanding its Suckies range with two new flavours offering added nutritional benefits:
Berries & Cherries – Immunity Supporting (Vitamin C)
Live yoghurt blended with berries and cherries, naturally high in Vitamin C to help support the immune system.
Blueberry & Oats – Tummy Goodness (Fibre and Oats)
Creamy live yoghurt blended with blueberries, British oats and wholegrains, high in fibre to support digestive health.
Both Pudstars and the new Suckies will be available in supermarkets from around 5 October, with the Suckies arriving at Sainsbury’s in mid‑September. We genuinely loved them and will happily buy them for the whole family once they’re out.
They’re ideal for children and just the right size to be versatile, perfect as a dessert, snack, breakfast option or lunchbox filler. As a parent, I’ll be very comfortable with my children enjoying them.
