Fakeaway Corn Dogs – Serves 6
Who loves corn dogs? I do and my boys do, too.
With these, there’s no need for deep frying and they taste amazing. Such an affordable and easy fakeaway!
Ingredients
400g (14oz) pre-rolled pizza dough
6x frankfurters
200–250g (7–9oz) mozzarella or Cheddar cheese, grated
2x eggs, beaten
Pinch of sugar
Panko breadcrumbs for coating
Salt and pepper
Sauces, to serve
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (400°F), Gas Mark 6.
2. Unroll the pizza dough on a work surface.
3. Place the frankfurters on top, then cut the dough into even rectangles around them.
4. Sprinkle over plenty of cheese, then fold in the ends of the dough rectangles and use your hands to roll up the frankfurters in the dough to fully enclose them.
5. Insert a skewer halfway up through each frankfurter. Season the beaten eggs with salt, pepper and the sugar and place in a shallow bowl.
6. Dip each corn dog into the egg, then into the breadcrumbs to coat all over.
7. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper and cook in the oven for about 20 minutes, until golden.
8. Serve with sauces of your choice.
Churro-Style Crumpets – Serves 2
I love churros – there’s something about them, right?
Every mouthful is just so moreish and delicious.
Here I upgrade some affordable crumpets
into a churro-style sweet treat using ingredients you’ve probably got in your cupboard, all in under 15 minutes.
Serve hot with a dip of your choice, we like melted milk chocolate mixed with Biscoff spread.
Ingredients
2x crumpets, cut into fingers
2x tablespoons melted butter
3–4x teaspoons caster sugar
1x teaspoon ground Cinnamon
Method
1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C, or the oven to 200°C (425°F), Gas Mark 7.
2. Toss the crumpet sticks with the melted butter until coated all over.
3. Mix the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl and sprinkle three quarters of the mixture over the crumpet sticks and toss again.
4. Cook in the air fryer or oven for 5–10 minutes, until crispy.
5. Sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar for that final touch.
