Tunbridge Wells dance company hosts first showcase dedicated to adult artists at Trinity Theatre
Cascade Dance is hosting an exciting new platform solely for adult dance artists and companies based in the South East. THRIVE will take place on Sunday 27th November at the Trinity Theatre in Tunbridge Wells; a much-needed platform showcasing 12 diverse contemporary works performed by adults aged 18 – 75!
Now in its 15th year, Cascade, a Tunbridge Wells based company, provides dancing opportunities for a range of participants in education and in the community. With a shared passion for dance and the arts, the company offers high quality, expressive and creative activities to a range of ages and abilities.
This is the first year launching THRIVE, which will celebrate Contemporary Dance through live performance and dance for screen. It is the first of its kind in Kent, offering an opportunity for adult dance artists. The event is held at Trinity Theatre and is in partnership, working closely to raise the profile of dance within the community.
The exciting programme will present work from both local and regional dance artists aged 18 – 75, including DamnIt!DanceIt! an inclusive company for mature dancers which runs in the TW Royal Victoria Shopping Centre and the Cascade Adults, a collective of semi & ex professional dancers from across the borough. The platform will also host BA Hons students from Canterbury Christ Church alongside artists from Loop Dance Company based in Chatham.
Artistic director Sam Blackden comments “THRIVE is open to all audiences, from dance enthusiasts to those wanting to experience something different. Our aim is to raise the platform of dance in the town, giving people of all ages an opportunity to perform, while inspiring the next generation of dancers by exposing students and young people to the arts.”
Free educational workshops and discounted tickets for schools:
As part of the performance, Cascade is offering a special package for Schools. As part of the package, students will receive discounted tickets for the performance and receive a free workshop delivering contemporary technique and dance repertoire from the company.
