A brand-new outdoor cinema experience is coming to Victoria Park this summer, as Haywards Heath Pop-Up Cinema makes its debut on Saturday 4 July. Organised by Haywards Heath Town Council, the free community event will bring residents together for a day of family-friendly entertainment, featuring two popular musical films on the big screen: The Greatest Showman (PG) and Mamma Mia (PG-13).
The films were chosen by local residents through an online public survey, ensuring the programme reflects the preferences of the Haywards Heath community.
The screenings will take place at:
3:00pm – The Greatest Showman
7:00pm – Mamma Mia
Admission is free, with residents and visitors invited to bring blankets or camping chairs and enjoy a summer’s day at the park. Food and drink vendors will be available throughout the event, including the classic cinema favourite – popcorn.
While attendance is free, attendees will have the opportunity to make a voluntary donation in support of Kangaroos Mid Sussex, our Town Mayor’s Charity of the Year. Donations raised during the event will help support the charity’s valuable work providing social and recreational opportunities for children and adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
The event forms part of the Town Council’s commitment to creating opportunities for the community to come together and enjoy accessible, family-friendly activities in the town.
A spokesperson from the Town Council, said: “We are thrilled to be introducing our first ever Pop-Up Cinema to Haywards Heath. This event is all about bringing our community together for a fun and memorable day in Victoria Park. We were keen to give residents a say in the films being shown, and it’s fantastic to have had over 950 participants take part in our survey. We hope families and friends will join us to enjoy the screenings, support Kangaroos and make the most of this exciting new event.”
