Wilbur’s Wild Welly Walk at Borde Hill Garden for Spring Half Term

The sun is out, the sky is blue, the storms have died down and only one tree went over at Borde Hill Garden, so they are back to business as usual for half term! Get your wellies on (we couldn't find much tough footwear that still fitted after the winter, and we had to chase a spider out of what did fit) and make sure you are wearing some stretchy legwear, as the children's trail is all about striking an animal-inspired Yoga pose, breathing in lots of that fresh, spring air and concentrating on having a positive mindset.

The groovy, gaudy and gloriously silly trail booklets are full of excellent and slightly bonkers characters to inspire young illustrators, and you'll be pulling plenty of faces, not just as part of the Yoga poses, but at the terrible jokes and puns. We wouldn't have it any other way.

If you can't touch your toes, or don't fancy trying the Rooster pose, there are plenty of lovely spring flowers and fat promising buds to cheer you up on the way round the trail; hellebore, crocus, snowdrops, daffs, camellia, downy magnolia buds and lots of rhododendron (I had to use the spellcheck for that one) in full bloom which confused me as I thought they flowered in May - but they are absolutely spectacular all the same. The Gardener's Retreat cafe are serving hot soup (butternut squash today) as well as the usual sandwiches and hot drinks.

If you make it round the trail without pulling a muscle, and gather all the letters in the correct order, the prizes are very on-theme if you wish to continue stretching and flexing, or you can just make a different choice and put your feet up for a well earned rest and relax when you get home.
