Local primary and nursery age children from Hackbridge Primary School have been celebrating the theme of ‘Friendship’ with their brilliant artwork, submitted into a competition in conjunction with Brio Retirement Living’s Button House development – bringing smiles to everyone’s faces.
With art competitions now set to become a regular occurrence between the two teams of dedicated staff and teachers, the children are encouraged to use an array of art supplies - and the results have been both heart-warming and glittery!
Karl Mlynarczyk, General Manager at Button House, which is a brand-new development located on Spinning Wheel Way in the Town, explained: “Hackbridge Primary School is located next door to Button House, and we thought it a wonderful idea to ask the children there to design some artwork which we could display on the walls for our staff and future homeowners to enjoy. The teachers have been extremely supportive, and the competitions will now become a regular occurrence with lots of prizes on offer to the winners!
“The first competition theme was ‘Friendship’ and it’s been amazing to see it through the eyes of 3 – 7-year-olds – and the standard of work is fantastic! From love hearts, animals, and friends hugging to a friendship tree created using finger paint – it’s inspiring to see what goes on in such young minds.”
10 winners have been chosen from 30 submissions, with the little artists collecting their prizes – which include art sets and chocolate eggs - from Button House whilst enjoying complementary hot drinks from the onsite Slate & Grain brasserie, bar and coffee lounge, with their grown-ups.
Karl continued: “We’re in the process of setting up next month’s competition – which will have a theme of ‘Caring for grandparents’. It’s rather apt as we have a gentleman who has purchased an apartment here and will be one of our first homeowners to move into Button House next month. He is a very proud grandad, and his grandchildren are pupils at Hackbridge Primary School. He’s absolutely delighted to be living so close to his grandchildren and will be able to wave to them from his balcony whilst they play out. No doubt they’ll become regular visitors here too – so I look forward to receiving their masterpieces and displaying them proudly on the walls for all to enjoy.”
Submissions for the next competition are now being created and Mrs Walford, Headteacher at Hackbridge Primary School, added: “The collaboration between our school and Button House reflects our tight-knit community and it’s a joy for the children to be involved. Our pupils are very creative and they’re producing pieces that are really impressive. The children have loved collecting their prizes too and the parents have also given feedback as to how impressed they are with Button House – it’s a wonderful addition to the area.”
