This Saturday 8 August, Theatre Royal Brighton will open the doors of its iconic building to the public for a free Open Morning. Visitors will be invited to enter the 219-year-old Grade II* listed theatre via its historic Stage Door, giving them rare access to the venue’s often unseen backstage areas.
Suitable for the whole family, the event will feature a range of activities, including the opportunity to step into the theatre’s Star Dressing Room and dress up for a souvenir photo. Visitors will also be invited to explore the building’s rich history, meet members of the Theatre Royal Brighton team, and discover more about the venue’s exciting upcoming season of shows.
Theatre Royal Brighton’s ATG Inspire programme will also offer visitors the chance to create and take home a free puppet. There will also be a merchandise stall featuring posters, programmes and show memorabilia from the theatre’s archives available for purchase, alongside a silent auction offering the chance to bid on exclusive money-can’t-buy items and experiences.
All funds raised during the Open Morning will be donated to Theatre Royal Brighton’s partner charity, LEAF (Live Education and Arts Foundation). LEAF works to increase access to arts and education opportunities for young people and communities. The charity is dedicated to tackling the decline of arts education, nurturing the current and next generation of performers and industry professionals with the view to developing a diverse, skilled and dynamic future UK.
Theatre Royal Brighton’s Open Morning is free to all with no prior booking necessary. The event will run from 10am – 2pm on Sat 8 Aug 2026, with entry via Stage Door on Bond Street.
