Create Music Academy to offer children & young people a huge range of musical learning opportunities

Returning this June, Create Music’s summer term short course series provides opportunities for learning and experimentation for children and young people at all stages of their musical journey. Create Music Academy will run for three weeks from 29 June to 17 July at venues throughout Sussex, providing 38 short courses for 6- to 18-year-olds across a variety of musical genres.

Create Music is one of the largest providers of music education in the UK and the lead organisation for the Sussex Music Hub. Through music lessons, ensembles, projects, workshops and orchestras it reaches more than 30,000 children in over 500 participating schools and music centres across the region.

Courses as part of Create Music Academy are delivered by the organisation’s team of experienced and friendly music teachers and supervisors. Beginners are welcome, with open access courses for students with no prior musical experience available in topics such as Debut Music Production, Samba Band and GarageBand.

Brand new courses for Create Music Academy 2026 include vocal groups for a range of ages and other topics include instrument specific workshops, full ensemble playing, rock and pop and dedicated composition courses. Each course will end with a performance celebrating the students’ newly honed musical skills.

Peter Chivers, Director of Create Music, said:

“Create Music Academy is a brilliant opportunity for children and young people to explore their creativity, build confidence and connect through music. These courses open the door to new experiences, helping every young musician take their next step and realise their potential.”

The courses are from 1 to 3 days long and priced between £39 and £117. Current Create Music students are entitled to a 10% discount on fees and bursaries of 25% are available for low-income families.

Create Music is part of Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival and is the region’s leading provider of high-quality, inclusive music and arts education and performance, championing the power of music to transform lives, the value of belonging and opportunities without barriers.
