Final Two Days to Bid: Charity Art Auction Drawing Crowds at The Orchards

With just two days remaining, visitors are being encouraged to place their bids in the Haywards Heath Mayor’s Charity Silent Art Auction, currently on display at The Orchards Shopping Centre in Haywards Heath. The exhibition has been attracting strong interest from shoppers and art lovers alike, with many stopping to admire the collection of locally created artwork and consider their bids.

The silent auction, held in support of the Mayor’s Charity of the Year – the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity – features 14 original pieces generously donated by talented local artists. With bidding starting from just £15, the collection includes striking abstracts, beautiful florals, animals, landscapes and much-loved local scenes, including Victoria Park.

All artworks are on display in Unit 6 at The Orchards Shopping Centre, near the marquee, where visitors can view the pieces in person. The artwork is accompanied by a QR code linking directly to the online silent auction, allowing people to place a bid instantly using their phone.

The auction closes at 5.00pm on Wednesday 11 March, and bidders are encouraged to return to the site to increase their offers, with minimum bid increments of £5. Funds raised from the winning bids will support children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments through the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.

Artwork has been contributed by a range of local artists – Brenda Barratt, Louise Henton, Brett Hudson, Chris Jarvest, Hilary Kennett, Karen Lorenz, Heather Matthews, Iona Moran, Viv Northorpe, Wendy Rowark and Maureen Welfare – showcasing the wealth of creative talent in the area.

With high levels of interest and many visitors taking time to view the display, the final days offer a great opportunity to secure a unique piece of art while supporting an important local cause. Whether you are looking for a statement piece for your home, a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift, or simply want to help make a difference, there is still time to get involved.

Full details, including the artwork brochure and auction link, can be found on the homepage of the Haywards Heath Town Council website.

Anyone who would like help placing a bid can visit the Town Hall or call 01444 455694, where staff will be happy to assist.

Cllr Duncan Pascoe, Mayor of Haywards Heath, said:
“It has been fantastic to see so many people enjoying the artwork and supporting our local artists and a very important charity. With just two days left, I encourage everyone to take a look and place a bid while they still can.”
