Haywards Heath is set to be transformed into a vibrant art trail this March as a silent auction in support of the Mayor’s Charity of the Year, the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, brings colour, creativity and community spirit to The Orchards Shopping Centre.
This exciting fundraising event will showcase 14 original pieces of artwork, generously donated by talented local artists, with bidding starting from just £15. From striking abstracts to beautiful florals, animals, landscapes and much-loved local scenes – including Victoria Park – there is truly something for everyone.
Visitors can follow the art trail throughout the shopping centre, beginning at Unit F, near the South Road entrance. Here, a large display map will guide art lovers to each participating shop window along the route.
Each piece is accompanied by a QR code linking directly to the online silent auction site, making it easy for visitors to submit a bid on their favourite artwork.
The silent auction opens at 9.00am on Monday 2 March and runs for ten days, closing at 5.00pm on Wednesday 11 March. Bidders can return again and again to increase their offers, with minimum bid increments of £5. Funds raised from the winning bids will support children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments.
Artwork has been contributed by a range of local artists – Brenda Barratt, Louise Henton, Brett Hudson, Chris Jarvest, Hilary Kennett, Karen Lorenz, Heather Matthews, Iona Moran, Viv Northorpe, Wendy Rowark and Maureen Welfare – highlighting the depth of creative talent within the area.
All artwork will be on public display throughout the auction, turning a visit to The Orchards into a unique cultural experience. Whether you’re searching for a statement piece for your home, a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift, or simply want to support an incredible local cause, this is a wonderful opportunity to take home something truly special.
Full details, including an artwork brochure, terms and conditions, and the auction link when bidding goes live, can be found on the homepage of the Haywards Heath Town Council website.
Anyone who would like help placing a bid can visit the Town Hall or call 01444 455694, where staff will be delighted to assist.
Cllr Duncan Pascoe, Mayor of Haywards Heath, commented: “This event is a fantastic collaboration between businesses of the Orchards Shopping Centre and Haywards Heath Town Council, as we celebrate local artists and fundraise for an important local cause. I hope you enjoy this wonderful collection of art. Thanks to all those involved in putting this auction together and to the artists for their generosity.”
Explore, enjoy and, if you can, please place a bid to support children and families who need it most.
