Haywards Heath Town Day 2025 proved that not even rain could dampen the town’s enthusiasm: it was a true testament to the resilience and unity of the local community as Victoria Park came alive on Saturday 13th September.
Undeterred by the weather, residents and visitors turned out in abundance to enjoy a spectacular celebration of community spirit, live entertainment, and family fun. From midday until 9pm, the park buzzed with energy as crowds gathered to take part in an unforgettable day packed with activities, performances, and attractions. The perseverance and passion of the community shone through, making the day a heartwarming success.
Families enjoyed a huge range of FREE activities, including face painting and balloon modelling by Tick Boom, a circus skills workshop by Circus All Stars, and a lively course by Bournemouth Crazy Golf that proved a hit with children and adults alike. The timeless Punch and Judy show, sponsored by P & S Gallagher, drew delighted giggles from little ones.
One of the day’s biggest highlights was the opportunity to meet Bluey, the much-loved character adored by families across the globe. It was wonderful to see huge smiles as fans posed for photos with their favourite Heeler pup.
Another firm favourite was Bumble the Brontosaurus, a stunningly lifelike, roaming dinosaur who wowed crowds throughout the park and had children wide-eyed in amazement.
Elsewhere, visitors could enjoy the thrills of the fairground rides, and kids were shouting with joy in the soft play. Stalls filled the park, showcasing local businesses, crafts, community groups, and charities, creating a vibrant marketplace atmosphere.
Live music from local bands and performers filled the air throughout the day, with genres covering a wide range. The Haywards Heath Concert Band, dance troupes, choirs, and theatre groups took to the community stage, showcasing the incredible talent within the local area.
No event is complete without fantastic food and drink, and this year’s Town Day was a culinary haven. From freshly baked wood-fired pizzas and traditional fish and chips to vegan-friendly dishes, ice cream, speciality coffee, and a buzzing festival bar, there was something to suit every taste.
The event also proudly supported the Mayor’s Charity, the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, raising vital funds to help children with cerebral palsy and their families receive the support they need.
Speaking after the event, Cllr Duncan Pascoe, the Mayor of Haywards Heath said:
“Town Day is always a special date in our calendar, but this year truly surpassed expectations. Seeing so many people come together to celebrate our wonderful community was incredible, and I’d like to thank everyone who contributed – from our performers and stallholders to our volunteers and visitors. Well done to the team at the Town Council for putting on such a brilliant day for all, despite the weather!”
Haywards Heath Town Council would like to say a huge thank you to our sponsors for the event, whom without the day would not have been possible without their generous support. Batchellor Monkhouse, Hayden Swan Opticians, The Orchards Shopping Centre and RBPM Direct brought the fun and festivities to life!
The success of the day was made possible by the dedication of volunteers and members of the Weald Classic Car Club, who supported event logistics and gate management, even with the Classic Vehicle Show unable to go ahead due to the weather. Behind the scenes, a committed team of Town Council officers, councillors, and volunteers worked tirelessly from dawn until dusk, overcoming challenging weather conditions to ensure the event went ahead as planned. Despite persistent rain and muddy terrain, their determination and teamwork kept spirits high and the day running smoothly – a true testament to community dedication.
Kind words from stall holders and visitors alike have been received for the efforts put in: “Thank you to the whole team for your perseverance and organisation on the day and to all your helpers who so quickly got our stuff to our stall.”
“So lucky to have a town council that put these events on. Brilliant day, thanks”.
Closing the day with a bang, Magic Queen brought the spirit of Freddie Mercury to Victoria Park. Their electrifying tribute to Queen featured hits like Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You, and Don’t Stop Me Now. With dazzling visuals and audience interaction, their performance was a fitting finale to a day of celebration.
Haywards Heath Town Day 2025 was a resounding success, bringing the community together for a day filled with laughter, music, and unforgettable memories. Plans are already underway for Town Day 2026 – we’ll see you all again next year!
