Family adventures are waiting at BOAT this summer!

From mischievous rabbits and magical worlds to comedy, music and a little bit of sparkle, we’ve got a brilliant line-up of family shows coming to Dyke Road Park over the next few weeks.

Whether you’re looking for a first theatre experience, a sunny afternoon out with the family, or an excuse to gather everyone together (yes, even grumpy Uncle Kevin!), there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Pack a picnic, bring a blanket, and join us for some unforgettable moments of outdoor theatre, laughter and imagination.

Improvised Comedy Family Show: Saturday 25 July, 2pm

At last — comedy that the whole family can enjoy!

Join Britain’s star improvisers The Noise Next Door for an afternoon of crazy characters, ridiculous stories and glorious gags, all made up live on the spot.

With kids, grandparents and even grumpy Uncle Kevin invited along, this is a comedy show where anything can happen — and probably will!

The Noise Next Door have appeared on The One Show (BBC One) and Britain’s Got Talent (ITV1), and have worked with comedy favourites including Michael McIntyre, Katherine Ryan, Romesh Ranganathan and Jason Manford.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: Wednesday 29 July, 2pm & Thursday 30 July, 2pm

Following its sell-out success at BOAT, IK Productions’ The Wonderful Wizard of Oz returns for another “bonkers” theatre adventure!

Join Dorothy, the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and Toto as they journey along the yellow brick road and encounter munchkins, witches, winged monkeys, enchanted slippers and a very Wonderful Wizard.

With physical comedy, fast-paced multi-rolling and plenty of surprises, this joyful family adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s classic story is packed with laughs for all ages.

Drag in the Park: Family Edition: Friday 31 July, 2pm

Dust off those sparkles and warm up your singing voices — Drag in the Park: Family Edition is back!

Get ready to boogie in the sunshine and sing along to your favourite pop and Disney songs as some of the UK’s biggest Queens bring you an inclusive, joyful celebration of drag for all ages.

Expect glitter, music, dancing and plenty of fabulous fun in this inspiring afternoon of family entertainment.

Peter Rabbit: Saturday 15 August, 1pm & 4pm & Sunday 16 August, 1pm & 4pm

Join Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny for a magical outdoor adventure based on Beatrix Potter’s much-loved tales.

When Peter and Benjamin can’t resist sneaking into Mr McGregor’s garden, they soon find themselves in all sorts of scrapes — from getting caught in a net to facing a very angry Mr McGregor!

With charming storytelling, colourful characters and plenty of mischief, Quantum Theatre bring this classic tale to life for a delightful afternoon of family theatre.

Grab the kids, a blanket and a picnic, and join us for an enchanting adventure under the sun.

Pinocchio: Monday 31 August, 4pm

Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of Pinocchio comes to life in this thrilling musical outdoor adventure from Illyria.

When toymaker Geppetto creates a puppet from a mysterious piece of wood, he doesn’t realise the chaos — and adventure — that is about to begin. As Pinocchio sets out into the world, he discovers that wishes, honesty and finding where you belong aren’t always as simple as they seem.

Packed with music, imagination and theatrical magic, this enchanting coming-of-age story is a perfect family afternoon out.
