“Animal School”: A NEW alternative provision for children with an EHCP in the Brighton & Hove area

Lindsay’s Animal School has been providing animal handling talks, parties and videos since 2008 and her latest adventure has been to set up “Animal School” – an alternative provision for children with an EHCP in the Brighton and Hove area

“After struggling with anxiety and burnout in the school system, my daughter is now thriving and confident thanks to Lindsay’s “Animal School”. A truly special place for children and rescued animals alike.” – Kate (Parent)

Based in the South Downs National Park, we boast an oasis of nature, a cozy Mongolian Yurt classroom and a huge range of different animal species your child can meet.

Animal School has a full animal activities welfare licence and is home to rescued guineapigs, rabbits, mice, llamas, sheep, tortoises, snakes, spiders, frogs, toads, chickens, turkeys, ravens, parrots and a wallaby, to name a few.

Over a 12 week course, students get the chance to gain AQA unit based qualifications in animal care. We work closely with Plumpton College and can help students apply for future education there post course.

Please WhatsApp: 07795 422036 or email: [email protected] to book

We also provide Saturday and weekend clubs, privately booked sessions and are in the process of forming a Home Ed group. For full services feel free to join our social media pages “Lindsay’s Animal School” and check out our website: www.animalschool.co.uk

Here is what local parents are saying about Animal School:

“The animals are wonderful and so varied and children are invited to be involved as they wish, they can touch and hold animals or just enjoy watching them – building up to any further engagement at their own pace. My child was so inspired they’ve just started training for a career in animal care! “ – Suze (Parent)

“Over the past year, my 14-year-old daughter has been attending this wonderful animal school, and the experience has been truly transformative for her. She’s had the opportunity to help care for a wide variety of animals, and in doing so, she’s gained practical knowledge and a deep sense of confidence and responsibility. This has given her an outlet to pursue something she’s genuinely passionate about, and I’ve seen such positive changes in her overall well-being. Her confidence has grown tremendously, and I truly believe this has played a big part in her feeling more settled and happy at school”- Jodie (Parent)

“I bring my student here each week during term time and I can honestly say that it is my favourite time of the week! The animals are so well cared for, Lindsay has a great understanding of children with SEND. My student has learnt so much, her confidence is growing beyond expectation and her knowledge of animals is being built on each week (as is mine!) The yurt is warm, comfortable and welcoming and we always leave feeling restored and at peace.” – Katie Ruddock (Teacher)

“Lindsay’s sessions are so special – comfortably situated in a beautiful, relaxing yurt with an amazing range of creatures to handle and find out about. Lindsay and her assistants give really clear instructions so you always feel really safe and supported. My autistic daughter feels so relaxed in her weekly sessions, and they have played a fundamental part in increasing her confidence and emotional regulation.” – Mandy (Parent)
