Arundel Castle is delighted to announce that its flagship summer event, the International Medieval Jousting Tournament, will return for 2026, taking place from Tuesday 21st to Sunday 26th July.
This year, the six-day tournament will feature eight world-class competitors divided into four teams, each representing their home countries of England, France, Canada and the USA.
Visitors can watch in awe as the knights charge down the tilt rail, their lances shattering dramatically on their opponent’s shield in a display of incredible horseback combat, and look forward to an exhilarating contest of skill, strength and chivalry as they vie for individual titles, national honour for their country, and special awards, including the prestigious Chivalry Award and the Skill at Arms prize.
Alongside the jousting, there is a full programme of family-friendly medieval entertainment, including falconry, a fire eater, medieval musicians and the renowned Arundel Castle ‘Kids Battle’. Visitors can immerse themselves in the spirit of the event by trying their hand at archery, axe throwing, mini joust and warrior training or by exploring a range of interactive medieval crafts. The living history encampment will also bring the past to life with captivating demonstrations of forging, traditional cooking, leatherwork and other period skills, offering a vivid glimpse into everyday life in a medieval world.
For those in need of refreshment, the Knights’ Table, complete with a festival bar, will be serving up a spectacular feast. Visitors can also enjoy a range of food and drink options at the castle café and coffee shop, scenic tea terrace, or bring their own picnic to enjoy in the stunning grounds.
