As the spooky season fast approaches, the award-winning open-air museum, Black Country Living Museum, has revealed its wickedly wonderful events for this October, offering visitors the chance to discover nearly 300 years of curious tales, unsolved mysteries and nostalgic horror.
This October Half Term, from Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November, something strange is stirring in the historic streets. Step back in time to join the historic police in their search for clues and discover which myths and old wives’ tales you will believe.
From ghostly apparitions and curious cures to mysterious goings-on, the constable is on the case, but they can’t solve it alone. Turn detective, join the jury and present your verdict. Was it superstition or a true story?
The whole family can join the Quack Doctor as they stir up the latest remedies for villagers’ ailments. See how inventive you can be by mixing the right cures, from good luck charms and botanical therapies to vegetable medicines and even worm necklaces!
The whole week is sure to be full of fun, food and history, offering the perfect alternative take on Halloween for the school holidays.
Looking for something a little more spooktacular? The Museum’s Halloween Nights are returning after hours, but be quick as tickets for 31 October are already sold out. Limited tickets remain for Saturday 24, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 October for an evening of tricks, treats and Halloween fun.
There is something for the young and the young at heart, as little monsters and ghouls can dress up and explore the historic town, going door to door collecting treats along the way, but Halloween Nights isn’t just about trick-or-treating… The whole Museum comes alive with spooky shows, roaming characters and big, bold Halloween spectacles that the whole family will love.
Join the parade and take part in the best-dressed costume competition. It’s not just for the little terrors; adults can also enter the best-dressed adult competition. Then get your boo-gie on for a night of monster mash fun and dancing at the Halloween disco.
Take a journey down memory lane with famous characters from the past, brave the scare maze and hear stories of historic hauntings.
It’s the perfect way to enjoy a night of trick-or-treating in a fun, safe and magical setting like nowhere else.
