{"id":17025,"date":"2024-08-16T12:30:06","date_gmt":"2024-08-16T12:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefamilygrapevine.co.uk\/west-sussex\/?p=17025"},"modified":"2024-08-16T12:31:18","modified_gmt":"2024-08-16T12:31:18","slug":"farlington-sixth-form-celebrates-continued-a-level-success-with-increase-in-top-grades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefamilygrapevine.co.uk\/west-sussex\/farlington-sixth-form-celebrates-continued-a-level-success-with-increase-in-top-grades\/","title":{"rendered":"Farlington Sixth Form celebrates continued A-Level success with increase in top grades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today, Farlington School in Horsham, celebrated exceptional A-Level examination results,<br \/>\nwith 46% of grades awarded at A*-A; 77% at A*-B; and a 100% pass rate.<br \/>\nParticularly impressive is the school\u2019s \u2018value added\u2019, with 42% of all grades awarded to Farlington<br \/>\nstudents being two grades above their national expected outcomes. This figure has doubled<br \/>\nsince last year. 82% of pupils achieved at least one grade above expected in at least one A-Level,<br \/>\nwhich reflects the outstanding progress made by these students during their time at Farlington<br \/>\nSixth Form.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am immensely proud of our students\u2019 achievements this year,\u201d says Headmaster James<br \/>\nPassam. \u201cThey have worked with diligence over the past two years and are now well poised for<br \/>\nthe next stage of their lives. Not only are they rightly celebrating their exam results, but many<br \/>\nhave achieved personal successes in other spheres, such as music, drama, public speaking, sport<br \/>\nand art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, 85% of Farlington students have today secured a place at their first choice of<br \/>\nuniversity. These pupils will now go on to read a range of subjects at prestigious universities<br \/>\nacross the country, including the University of Southampton (Aeronautical and Spacecraft<br \/>\nEngineering, Psychology); Loughborough University (Sport and Exercise Science); Trinity College<br \/>\nDublin (Stage Management); and The University of Liverpool (Marketing).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFarlington Sixth Form continues to go from strength to strength,\u201d says Head of Senior School<br \/>\nPenny Hart. \u201cOur individual \u2018pathways planning\u2019 offers a personalised approach to each student\u2019s<br \/>\njourney, resulting in the impressive grades achieved today. I am delighted by how well this<br \/>\ncohort has performed throughout the two years, and I look forward to following their future<br \/>\nprogress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Students and staff celebrated together at Farlington this morning, as excited pupils arrived to<br \/>\nfind out their A-Level results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFarlington Sixth Form is a close-knit group, and the dedication of the teachers doesn\u2019t go<br \/>\nunnoticed,\u201d said Am\u00e9lie, who joined Farlington in Year 12 and will now read Psychology at the<br \/>\nUniversity of Southampton. \u201cYou can tell that the staff really care; they\u2019re always rooting for us!\u201d<br \/>\nLily, who has been at Farlington since Year 9 and will read Sport and Exercise Science at<br \/>\nLoughborough University after a gap year, agreed: \u201cI decided to stay at Farlington for my<br \/>\nA-Levels, because I knew the teachers would support me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As in previous years, whilst many of Farlington\u2019s Year 13 students will now go to university,<br \/>\nothers, like Lily, have chosen to take a gap year, taking the time to build up their portfolio or gain<br \/>\nwork experience. We are proud to share that Farlington students who took this route last year<br \/>\nwill start university courses in Medicine (Hull York Medical School and Brunel University London);<br \/>\nNeuroscience (University of Exeter); and Social Sciences (King&#8217;s College London) this September.<br \/>\nFarlington School is a co-educational independent day and boarding school, offering nursery (6<br \/>\nmonths+) through to Sixth Form provision. The school has invested in recent years to improve<br \/>\nand broaden facilities, including new classrooms for Music, Computer Science and Year 6, as well<br \/>\nas a new Dance Studio, EYFS extension, and refurbishment of our boarding accommodation. We<br \/>\nare also proud of our continued investment into the curriculum at Farlington \u2013 having introduced<br \/>\nDesign and Technology at GCSE, and Economics and Computer Science at A-Level \u2013 as well as the<br \/>\npriority we place on character development.<\/p>\n<p>Farlington Sixth Form is still welcoming admissions for September 2024.
