The King Edward VII Estate in Midhurst is a historic site that has undergone significant transformation. Orignially a tuberculosis sanatorium, it was officially opened in 1906 by His Majesty King Edward VII. The estate was designed by renowned architects Charles Holden, Percy Adams, and Gertrude Jekyll, who were part of the influential Arts & Crafts movement. The estate’s design and landscaping were both by Gertrude Jekyll, who created the beautiful gardens that are now part of the estate’s appeal. The estate has been restored and converted into a vibrant community of country residences with the former sanatorium buildings and grounds now providing a range of apartments, houses and facilities.
