Early bird booking is now entering its final weeks for this year’s Chichester Cathedral Light Experience, following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, which welcomed more than 14,500 visitors.
Created especially for the Cathedral’s 950th anniversary by the internationally acclaimed artistic collaboration Luxmuralis – artist Peter Walker and composer David Harper – the experience was described by visitors as “magical”, “mesmerising” and “the best thing I’ve seen in ages”.
This year’s Chichester Cathedral Light Experience presents Luxmuralis’ Illuminating Art, from 23 to 31 October 2026. Making its Sussex debut, the acclaimed immersive experience has captivated audiences at cathedrals including Liverpool, Rochester and Salisbury, transforming remarkable architecture through spectacular projection, light and music.
Following its hugely successful debut during Chichester Cathedral’s 950th anniversary celebrations, the Light Experience will now become an annual fixture in the Cathedral’s autumn events programme.

We hope many of those who joined us last year will return and make it part of their family’s annual tradition, while also welcoming many first-time visitors to experience the magic of the Cathedral after dark.”

As one of Chichester Cathedral’s principal fundraising events, the Chichester Cathedral Light Experience raises vital funds to support the care, conservation and ongoing life of the Cathedral.
