The Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK) is launching its annual national summer water safety campaign across the UK and Ireland, Drowning Prevention Week. Taking place from 14-21 June 2025, the campaign looks to target families, carers, teachers and instructors of children aged five to fifteen years old with the aim of educating them about water safety. With the right water safety education, such as knowledge of the Water Safety Code, accidental drownings are preventable.
Drowning Prevention Week is deliberately timed ahead of the school summer holidays when children spend more time outdoors and when vital water safety skills can help keep children safe. Please help spread the word and encourage everyone to have the water safety conversation with children.
Why Water Safety Matters
Children are naturally curious and often drawn to water, whether it’s a pool, beach, or even a garden pond. As a parent, understanding water safety and teaching it to your children can make all the difference. By participating in Drowning Prevention Week, you can help ensure your children are aware of the dangers and know how to stay safe.
