An FAA Level 1 Award in Fire Safety Awareness was achieved by a group of Lindfield Repair Caf\u00e9 volunteers in August.\u00a0 The Repair Caf\u00e9 directors are always keen to ensure that their volunteers and visitors are safe during their events and to this end they offer annual training sessions. Last year’s was First Aid.\u00a0 The Fire Safety course was delivered by Neil Pocock, an ex-fire fighter with many years’ experience.<\/p>

Following the training, volunteers were treated to a buffet in the URC garden.\u00a0 This was intended to be a barbecue but, considering the tinder dry grass and high temperatures, and following the training, the team decided the ovens were a safer bet!<\/p>

‘This was a wonderful chance for us to thank our loyal volunteers, as well as for us all to relax and chat without a queue of repairs waiting!’ said Andy Fruin. ‘We are so grateful for all the hard work and commitment from our regular volunteers and all that they do to make our monthly events successful.’<\/p>

Our next event will be on Saturday 5th<\/sup> September at 10am and we look forward to welcoming our regulars, as well as new visitors, for repairs, a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake!<\/p>

As always, there will be a craft activity in the Kids’ Room, encouraging our younger generation to hone skills which will hopefully encourage them to become our next generation of Repairers.<\/p>
