Two thirds of the cohort gained three A*-B grades.

Burgess Hill Girls is celebrating an exceptional set of A Level results, with almost 80% of grades at A*–B and over 50% at A*–A. Two-thirds of students achieved three A*–B grades, the benchmark for entry to the UK’s most competitive universities.

Results in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) were equally impressive, with 96% awarded A*–A. As a core element of the Sixth Form’s BOLD Programme, the EPQ equips students with advanced research and academic skills, giving them a distinct advantage in higher education.

The school’s bespoke university and careers programme consistently enables students to realise their aspirations. This year’s cohort will progress to a wide range of top universities to study subjects including Mathematics, Politics, Chemistry, English Literature, Anthropology, Classics, and Business & Management. Creative excellence remains a hallmark of the school, with students securing places at prestigious art schools and music conservatoires. Almost all students will take up their first-choice university place.

Head of Sixth Form, Iain Regan-Smith, said:

“We are immensely proud of our Sixth Form students whose outstanding results reflect their academic excellence across a broad spectrum of subjects. This year’s cohort has combined intellectual curiosity with remarkable charitable initiatives and leadership. They leave us as confident, compassionate young women, equipped to excel as Tomorrow’s Women.”

Burgess Hill Girls also continues to challenge gender stereotypes in STEM. While just 13% of UK students studying computer science degrees are female (UCAS), three of our students have secured places to study Computer Science at university, a testament to the school’s commitment to inspiring girls to follow their tech ambitions.

Notable individual successes include:

Lucia, who achieved four top A Level grades plus an A* in her EPQ, will read Natural Sciences (Physical) at Peterhouse College, Cambridge.

Melissa, with outstanding grades, secures her place at Oriel College, Oxford to read Mathematics and Computer Science.

Ashana, with four A* grades, will read Computer Science at King’s College London.

All three also won a silver medal in the prestigious National Cypher Challenge 2024.

This year’s results were also notable for two sets of twins achieving identical grades in three of their subjects:

Amelie (Classical Civilisation, French, History, Politics A Levels) reading History at Exeter; Madison (Classical Civilisation, History, Politics A Levels) reading Politics & International Relations at York.

Amy (Drama and Theatre, Economics, Geography A Levels) reading Drama with Acting at Royal Holloway; Maddie (Art, Maths, Religious Studies A Levels) reading Management & Marketing at Reading.

Head, Heather Cavanagh, added:

“Today we are proudly celebrating our A Level stars, the Class of 2025. Our students have impressed us yet again with their results, proving that hard work, support, and ambition lead to extraordinary achievements. I congratulate every single one of our girls and extend my thanks to our dedicated staff for their tireless support. We look forward to seeing all that the Class of 2025 will accomplish in the future.”

Burgess Hill Girls is celebrating a fantastic set of A Level results with almost 80% of outcomes graded A*-B and over 50% graded A*-A.
