{"id":33832,"date":"2024-07-05T10:45:56","date_gmt":"2024-07-05T09:45:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefamilygrapevine.co.uk\/midsussex\/?p=33832"},"modified":"2024-07-05T10:45:56","modified_gmt":"2024-07-05T09:45:56","slug":"burgess-hill-girls-brighten-up-burgess-hill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefamilygrapevine.co.uk\/midsussex\/2024\/07\/05\/burgess-hill-girls-brighten-up-burgess-hill\/","title":{"rendered":"Burgess Hill Girls Brighten Up Burgess Hill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A design by art students at Burgess Hill Girls has been selected by Burgess Hill Town Council to give Virgin Media\u2019s grey telecommunications boxes a makeover.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Burgess Hill Town Council has devised an innovative project to brighten up Virgin media\u2019s dull grey telecommunications boxes in the town.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.burgesshill.gov.uk\/virgin-media-boxes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Existing designs<\/a> include \u2018St John\u2019s Church with three Marlet birds\u2019 by local artist Holly Sellors, \u2018Burgess Hill Water Tower\u2019 by U3A member and artist Ian McConachie, and \u2018J.C. Bee-Mason\u2019 by local art teacher Richard Black. Bee-Mason was a filmmaker, explorer, campaigner, and beekeeper who lived in Burgess Hill.<\/p>\n<p>Coincidently the design by Sixth Form art students Annalise, Natalie and Maddie also follows a bee theme:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cInspired by the B in our school logo and our mascot Queen Bee we each created individual designs and then combined them for a collaborative fusion of our ideas.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This week the girls finished painting their artwork on to the Virgin Media box on Station Road. Deputy Burgess Hill Town Mayor Tofujjul Hussain was in attendance to meet the girls and officially launch the newest design.<\/p>\n<p>Emma Levett, Head of Art at <a href=\"https:\/\/burgesshillgirls.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Burgess Hill Girls<\/a>, is delighted to see the students sharing their art with the community:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am, as always, incredibly proud of the artworks produced by the Lower Sixth Form. This time is no exception. The response from neighbours and passersby has been wonderful. Everyone is delighted with how bright the art looks in the community, and many have said it has really cheered them up.
