For the seventh time, the Wivelsfield Parish Church and Wivelsfield  Little Theatre are coming together to present a Mediaeval Nativity Play in the parish church of St. Peter and St. John the Baptist, Church Lane, Wivelsfield, West Sussex, RH17 7RD.

This ancient church, which dates back to Saxon times, is the perfect setting for this down-to-earth portrayal of the historic events surrounding the birth of Christ, as seen by our mediaeval forebears.  It provides a resonant, atmospheric setting, accentuated by the use of candles to light the church.  A glass of mulled wine or a soft drink are included in the £10 ticket price.

When it was first produced in 2003 it was hailed as the best amateur theatrical production in Mid Sussex that year. It has subsequently played to capacity houses.  This play is certainly not the sort of thing you may have seen, or even taken part in, at school. It is an earthy portrayal of events, sometimes dramatic and shocking, sometimes thought provoking, at other times humorous.  This version is not suitable for children younger than 12 years old.
