Wakehurst ‘dishes the dirt’ on Mother’s Day
On Mothering Sunday – 6 March 2016, Wakehurst are hosting a delicious three-course carvery in their stunning Elizabethan Mansion. Following on from their popular ‘Flower-pot’ loaves, the chefs have created their own version of a mouth-watering ‘Dirt cake’ for desert. The Chocolate Dirt Pot consists of layers of crushed oreos and chocolate brownie with soft cream cheese, strawberry coulis and whipped cream. Served in a flower plot the flowers and leaves are all made of sugar and fully edible.
Dirt deserts originated in America (where they followed on from Mississippi Mud pies) and recipes often refer to them as being ‘a taste of home’. Wakehurst is hoping very much to create that ‘family feel’ during their Mother’s Day meal but with restaurant style service.
The rest of the menu is ‘suitably Wakehurst’ – with touches of the gardens and woods reflected in the starters and additional desserts whilst roast sirloin of beef, leg of lamb and roasted gammon will be served for the main meal.
Prices are £25pp for adults and (£12.50 for under 10’s) and booking is essential – please call Tel: 01444 894040 or email [email protected]. The price includes FREE entry to Wakehurst.
