The Only Camps announces October half term expert-led sport camps

Rugby, netball, cricket and hockey training academies for 4-16-year olds

9 October 2020: The Only Camps, leaders in offering expert-led sports camp coaching for 4-16-year olds, have today announced their schedule of safe, enjoyable and inclusive camps in Sussex and Surrey for October half term.

Taking place from Monday, 26 October – Friday, 30 October 2020, at either Hurstpierpoint College (West Sussex) or Cranmore School (Surrey), the extensive programme offers a range of training academies for all abilities. Three-days camps are available for rugby, netball, cricket and hockey (11-16-year olds) as well as a five-day multi-sport camp for 4-7-year olds and 7-11-year-olds. Attendees can choose morning sessions (9 a.m. – 12 p.m.), afternoon sessions (1p.m. – 4 p.m.) or full day sessions (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.).  Multi-sport camps run from 9.30 a.m. – 3.30 p.m.

Since 2017, The Only Camp directors, Freddie Pierrepont (RFU Level 3 Rugby Coach and Rugby Performance Manager at Hurstpierpoint College) and ex-England and Harlequins rugby player Jordan Turner-Hall, have been running these out of term time, high-standard academies. High profile coaches include current and ex international and premiership players. Marcus Smith (Harlequins), Jack Clifford (ex-England & Harlequins) and Ollie Lindsay-Hague (England 7s, Rio Olympics Silver Medallist) will be coaching across Cranmore and Hurstpierpoint this half-term.

For the company’s 14-16 age group, the ‘Train Like a Pro’ philosophy to coaching, delivers a professional approach to player development, one-on-one tuition combined with adaptive games and closed skills practices. Strength & conditioning, nutrition and video analysis are brought into each camp where possible.

This year, in line with strict government and National Governing guidelines, and to reassure parents, keys principles have been implemented. Camps will only be run in groups and bubbles as advised by the sport’s National Governing Bodies. Children will be required to sanitise their hands throughout the day. Two-metre social distancing will be practised, and food and drink cannot be shared.

Director Freddie Pierrepont said: “We are really excited to be able to run our camps again this half term, after a very successful summer programme under the same restrictions. It is important to us that we keep children active and healthy, whilst they continue to develop their sporting skills. We are taking government and NGB advice very seriously to ensure the environment is safe for all the children that attend, as well as for our extremely talented and experienced coaches.”
