The Roaring 20’s will be revisited, speakeasy style, next February on a night of fundraising, dancing and jazz at the Reigate Manor. The event has been organised by the Glad Rags Society, to celebrate the centenary of the classic era, and they have chosen to support Jigsaw (South East) child bereavement charity.
The Glad Rags Society was formerly known as the Caterham Annual Ball Committee. The small team organises themed black tie balls with a charity raffle to help raise money for a different cause each year.
“We do this so that everyone has a chance to go out for an evening with family and friends and dress up. It’s so important to give and we chose Jigsaw (South East) this year because they do so much good work in the community,” said organiser Sally Pamplin.
It has been three long years since the last Glad Rags Society event and it is back in 2020 by popular demand. “We’ve had a short break, as many of the committee members had children. Our last ball was in 2016 and since then people have been asking us when the next one is happening!”
“We usually have around 120-130 people attending and we sell tickets on a first come first served basis. We’re expecting them to sell fast, as this event has been long awaited!” Mrs Pamplin added.
Sophie Bewley is the Fundraising Co-ordinator for Jigsaw (South East). She said:
“We are delighted that the Glad Rags Society is supporting our charity. All the money raised will help children and young people facing the most difficult time in their lives. It’s going to be a great evening out and will make a real difference.”
Whether you want to shimmy, Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Lindy Hop or just show off your Charleston, you will be able to enjoy a three-course meal and enter the charity raffle before the entertainment begins.
Prizes for the raffle have previously included restaurant vouchers, family park tickets, beauty salon vouchers and even premier league tickets. It is definitely a raffle you will want to be part of, so save the date!
