Three young riders representing Cumnor House Sussex were rewarded with considerable success while riding in blizzard conditions at the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) Eventers Challenge competition, held at Petley Wood Equestrian Centre in Battle, and attended by over 25 schools from all over Sussex, London and Kent.
Cumnor pupils, George McCaldin, Isabelle Jeffery and Jessica McCaldin, secured second place overall in the Mini Derby U14 70cm show jumping speed class. The top two teams in the Class qualify for the highly competitive NSEA finals which are taking place at Hickstead on the 27th & 28th May 2018.
In the same class, George and Jessica were placed 1st and 3rd individually, and have also qualified to compete as individuals in the NSEA finals at Hickstead.
“We are so proud of our riders and ponies who showed huge resilience while riding under immensely difficult conditions,” commented Sarah McCaldin, co-ordinator of the Cumnor House Sussex riding team. “After a quiet winter it was good to see the distinctive black and red colours of the Cumnor Equestrian team competing once again, and we are looking forward to more riders from the school joining us in the future”.
