The Ariel drama academy students treated the Crawley shoppers to a free performance in the sunshine on the 11th October in Queens Square and took the opportunity to collect funds for the theatre company’s appointed charity, Chestnut Tree House.
150 students aged 5 – 19 performed a wide range of numbers from popular musicals such as Wicked, 13 and Nine to Five. The talented performers were from Ariel’s Saturday drama academies in Crawley and East Grinstead, plus Ariel’s Junior and Senior Musicality Choirs. The audience were treated to popular hits from 60s, 70s and some of today’s artists including One Republic, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift.
The event was arranged by Crawley Academy and Choir Principal Abi Paige, who said
‘We had a fantastic crowd who gathered to watch and support our students as they performed in the glorious sunshine. It was such a great afternoon with a wonderful atmosphere. The students enjoyed themselves as much as the audience and we raised £167 for Chestnut Tree House’.
Ariel offers free trials at all their drama academies for prospective students aged 5 -19. Places are currently available at the Haywards Heath, Crawley and East Grintead academies and short waiting lists are in place at Burgess Hill and Steyning.
Ariel runs its Musicality Choirs for children and adults in both Crawley and Burgess Hill. For information call 01444 250407 or visit www.arielct.co.uk.
