Ariel Company Theatre’s production of Oliver! will open at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley on Thursday 24th September and will run for three days, including a matinee and evening performance on Saturday 26th September.
For one four-legged actor this will be his stage debut. English Bull Terrier Arthur, is playing Bullseye the companion of career criminal Bill Sikes. Arthur normally resides with his owners near Burgess Hill but has taken to acting like a professional in this energetic family favourite.
The cast, which is made up of adult actors and children, many from Ariel’s Sussex academies have been rehearsing for several months to master the numerous songs and complex range of characters which make up the show. Ariel’s musicals and plays are always of a very high standard so this exacting process is important to produce a show to remember.
Director, Neil Hopson said: ‘This has been a great cast to work with, they say never work with animals and children but I have to say everyone has really given 100%. Although Oliver! is one of the classic musicals, it has been great to tweak a few things and put our own unique Ariel twist into the production. It will be a fantastic show, so come and see Oliver, Dodger, Fagin, Nancy and of course Bullseye!’
Featuring well known musical numbers such as Consider Yourself, Pick a Pocket or Two, Food Glorious Food and As Long as He Needs Me, Oliver! is set to be a popular show at the Hawth.
