Protègèm’s aim is to support, nurture and encourage young dancer’s talents and to provide them with performance opportunities.
- Protègèm Dance Company was founded in August 2003 to cater for the growing needs of young dancers.
- Protègèm Dance Company members gain their places through audition only.
- Protègèm Dance School was formed in September 2004, following the successes of Protègèm Dance Company and realising that there wasn’t much dance training available in the Ewell and surrounding areas!
- Protègè follows the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association) syllabus for dancing exams and usually holds a few exam sessions a year. IDTA is the largest dance organisation and recognised worldwide. All teachers are fully qualified and DBS checked.
- After offering AQA GCSE Dance since 2005, Protègè gained accreditation as its own centre in 2008. Protègè hopes to broaden its range of nationally recognised performing qualifications over the years to come.
- 2013 Protègè celebrated it’s 10th anniversary with another exciting full school show @ The Epsom Playhouse, with rehearsals and shows spread over 3 weekends, (combating a lot of snow to make it in for rehearsals!)
Protègèm offer classes in Ballet, Tap, Theatrecraft, Musical Theatre, Street Jazz, Arts Award, breakdance (within boys street) and contemporary (within Arts Award and Dance Company sessions) .
