Calling all 7-16 year olds! It’s not too late to register online at www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/surreyyouthgames for a chance to be part of Team Epsom & Ewell at this year’s P&G Surrey Youth Games which take place on the 21 and 22 June at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford.
So far this year we have a record 441 young people who have registered to take part. But if you haven’t signed up, there are still opportunities to take part. We are particularly keen to field a Boccia team, a Paralympic sport similar to bowling.
In preparation for the main competition weekend, free trials and training sessions for the P&G Surrey Youth Games which commenced after the Easter holidays will run for 6-8 weeks to select the Epsom & Ewell squad sponsored by Better that will represent the Borough at the Games, competing against 10 other Surrey Boroughs and Districts.
Qualified coaches run all sports and the majority have direct links with local clubs’ junior sections which offers scope for youngsters who sign up, to receive training to get involved with a club on a more long-term basis. For the training sessions schedule visit www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/surreyyouthgames
This year there are a wide variety of sports on offer including basketball, badminton, boccia, non-contact boxing, contact boxing, girl’s cricket, girl’s football, hockey, lacrosse, netball, girl’s rugby, swimming, squash, table tennis and tennis.
To be eligible to represent the Borough at the Games, you must live or go to school in the Borough and be of sub-county level in your chosen sport. There are also a number of ways to get involved in the Games as a volunteer.
Don’t miss out on the chance of being part of Team Epsom & Ewell who last year won the overall Borough Trophy for the first time in the Games 17 year history. For more information and to register online visit www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/surreyyouthgames
