YHA family membership – A gift fit for a future king

What do you get the family who has everything? Membership of YHA (England and Wales) of course.
The youth hostelling charity has sent the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge honorary lifetime family membership of YHA (England and Wales) to celebrate the arrival of their son, HRH Prince George of Cambridge.
The honorary family membership continues YHA’s association with the royal family. Prince George’s great grandmother Her Majesty The Queen is patron of YHA (England and Wales). Additionally, the charity has strong links with his great grandfather’s youth charity, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with YHA providing free membership and discounts for groups and individuals undertaking the DofE Award.
Chris Darmon, Chairman of YHA (England and Wales), has written directly to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge congratulating them on their new arrival as well as introducing the family to YHA.
He said: “Our network of more than 160 Youth Hostels provides young people, whether coming in education groups, with their families or travelling independently, with excellent affordable accommodation in a wealth of stunning locations. We create opportunities for young people to discover and learn about the cities, landscape and history of England and Wales. Discovering the UK and the many people that make up our vibrant country is something I’m sure their son will become all too familiar with in years to come.”
