Help your neighbour handle the heat-SAVI says check on your neighbour
Surrey’s visually impaired charity SAVI is undertaking the process of contacting visually impaired people across Surrey to make sure they are managing in the heatwave.
Chief Executive Bob Hughes said “We want to know that those most vulnerable to the heat are coping, in particular older people are more prone to the health risks of the heat, and may find it more difficult to seek assistance, especially if they are visually impaired. We are contacting everyone known to us but there may be some who we will not reach who are at a risk from the heat.
SAVI is calling for a community reaction to back up their efforts, and are asking people to check that their neighbours, friends and family are coping.
