It comes every year, yet every winter we seem to find ourselves rushing around when the 25th December nears closer. With Christmas less than 50 days away, it’s definitely time to put your festive hat on and start planning! Who will be cooking the turkey this year? When is it acceptable to start decorating the tree? And what on earth to buy the grandparents this year? (minus socks!)
We’ve got some fantastic ideas from local businesses to give you some inspiration for a homemade Christmas…
1) Christmas themed footprint tiles and plates
The perfect memento for babies first Christmas – at The Kilnwood Studio in Uckfield you can create lovely keepsakes in the form of decorated pottery. Style your child’s footprint into a penguin or a Christmas tree, and the tile or plate can be used as a Christmas decoration for you use for years to come. These also make fab gifts for family members.
2) Hand painted baubles
Because, is the tree complete without some fancy baubles?! Go the extra mile this year and make your own! The perfect craft activity, at the Kilnwood Studio in Uckfield children are free to decorate their own baubles and let their imagination go wild! For the adults, The Cookshelf in Eastbourne are putting on a Christmas bauble painting evening 24 November @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm, which you can book here.
3) Personalised gifts
They say ‘it’s the thought that counts’ and that is certainly true! There’s something quite special about receiving a personalised gift that someone has obviously put a lot of thought into. At Masterpiece in Whitesmith, children can decorate lovely gifts that are sure to be treasured forever. Ranging from personalised photo frames, to mugs decorated with a special message – you will be sure to find something to give to the person who has ‘everything!’. Plus – a quirky gift for dad’s – why not personalise a pair of cufflinks with children’s fingerprints down at The Cookshelf? Super cute (and they don’t require too much of your child’s attention!)
