Turning negative into positive… Confronting grief

Turning negative into positive… Confronting grief

A year after being diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Sarah’s Mum’s life was taken.

It has been this journey of living with her loss and experience of people’s reactions that has inspired the launch of www.rememberwithasmile.com.  Sarah has sourced and created a range of cards and gifts which show our love and sympathy for friends and family at difficult times.

Sarah said “There are so many questions left unanswered when you lose someone you love – the biggest I have found being WHY. – I’ll never know the answer to this but am trying to accept that you can’t change what has happened, you just have to learn to adjust and live with it.

However, I have also learnt from this that some people find it very hard to know how to comfort someone who is suffering a loss or a difficult time. Words are so sensitive and emotions are so raw, this can even put people off saying anything at all.

Her ultimate aim with Remember with a Smile is “to help people help each other”. She wants to encourage people to confront grief in a more positive and supportive way, letting them know you care and are thinking of them. Giving people an opportunity to smile, even when their world may be feeling shattered.”

A percentage of each sale from Sarah’s cards and gifts will be donated to St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne, a charity which helps so many families in difficult times.

Sarah shares her favourite quote with us “ There is nothing wrong in doing the right thing!”
