Dave expressed what an honour it was to have Cheerios dedicate its latest cereal to him, saying, “I know for many of you, I border on national treasure status, and this goes a long way to confirming that. I’m quite moved really.”

However, all was not as it seemed, with co-host Matt Dyson looking on in dismay and having the awkward job of correcting him, breaking the news that the cereal simply has a berry taste. After posting, the Cheerios social media team further burst Berry’s bubble, explaining that the newly launched cereal is in fact blended with a splash of real berry puree.

While the cereal may not bear his name, the new Very Berry Cheerios is still proving to be a hit for the star and his family: “Alright, it was too good to be true! Matt was right (for once!) and it’s not actually named after me,” Berry conceded. “All jokes aside, this new addition to the Cheerios family is genuinely delicious. My daughter and I are absolutely loving them, and anything that makes our mornings a bit smoother and tastier is a little win in my book.”

Despite Dave’s unfortunate mishap, the launch of Very Berry Cheerios addresses a far more common morning challenge for families across the UK – the breakfast battlefield.

New research** from the brand reveals that 40% of parents say that breakfast time is the most difficult part of the day for their family. Top breakfast struggles include trying to get children to finish their breakfast, sit down at the table and avoid making a mess.

When it comes to choosing breakfast cereals, 87% of parents that we spoke to are looking for something that is both tasty and part of a nutritious breakfast. Three quarters of the parents (75%) have experienced their little one refusing to eat their breakfast altogether. And 30% said that being able to eat breakfast as a family would be a small victory in the morning.

Enter the new Very Berry Cheerios, with the taste of berries in every bite- a breakfast cereal that parents can feel good about, and the whole family will genuinely look forward to eating, making those chaotic mornings a little less “chaos” and a lot more “Cheerios.”

Each serving provides a breakfast that’s high in fibre from oats, wheat and barley and seven vitamins including B6 and B9 to support energy release and iron to support the immune system. Plus, with no artificial colours or flavours, it’s a smart way to have a little win at the start of your day.

“Despite not ‘officially’ being named after Dave Berry, it’s great to have the seal of approval from the King of Breakfast himself! We know mornings can be a real challenge for families, and parents are constantly looking for those ‘little wins’ to start the day right – it turns out radio hosts are no exception.” says Sarah Fordy, Nestlé Cereals Head of Marketing. “With the New Very Berry Cheerios, we’re delivering just that: a delicious and fun breakfast that the whole family will enjoy, combined with whole grains and fibre that parents can feel good about.
