Brockham Village Hall

Preparation for this year’s Brockham Bonfire began two months ago, with volunteers getting together to build the benchmarking beacon in the heart of the village.

Brockham’s annual Guy Fawkes event promises to be a great day out, featuring not only a dazzling fireworks display but also a children’s fancy dress competition, a torchlight procession and a pig auction, and raises thousands for charity.

A spokesman for the bonfire building group said: “We hope to be able to raise even more this year and with your support and dry weather, anything is possible.”

The fun will take place on Brockham Village Green just off Brockham Lane with Brockham Lane, Kiln Lane, Borough Bridge, Old School Lane, Middle Street and Wheelers Lane closed to all traffic from 5.30pm.

For safety reasons the road across the green may remain closed until at least 11pm.
