Long Description :

The British Wildlife Centre, in the heart of the East Surrey countryside, is the best place to see and learn about Britain’s own wonderful wildlife. The Centre is home to over forty different native species which include the familiar animals such as foxes, deer and badgers, as well as rarely seen species like Scottish wildcats, pine martens and otters.

Visitors can see badgers in a special underground sett, deer herds in the deer park and otters in the observation holt or playing in their ponds. Undercover areas, The barn and The Hedgerow, house the small mammals; rats, rabbits, mice and voles. Keeper talks take place every half hour at the different animal enclosures, allowing visitors to see the animals up close and being fed while learning more about them. The day culminates in a free-flying owl display allowing visitors to see beautiful British owls in all their glory.

The British Wildlife Centre has the UK’s first Walk-through Red Squirrel Enclosure. An elevated boardwalk leads visitors through the trees to observe the free-ranging colony of red squirrels, offering the kind of close-up viewing almost impossible in nature.

The Centre includes picnic areas, a coffee shop, wildlife gift shop and plenty of free on-site parking. It is easily accessible by car, located on the A22 at Newchapel, near Lingfield, Surrey, just 10 minutes south of the M25 junction 6 (Godstone).

The Centre is open every weekend and public holiday (excluding 25/26 Dec) and daily during state school holidays. The website provides the dates.
