The playgroup provides childcare for 2- 4 year olds and offers the perfect introduction to ‘school life’ with an emphasis on free play, supervised by experienced, dedicated and caring staff. Its new home has been confirmed as the formerly-unused plot of land adjacent to Radcliffe on Trent Infant and Nursery School, a mere 50m away from playgroup’s existing home within the grounds of South Notts Academy.
The securing of this site for playgroup’s use has brought great relief to all involved with the organisation. Playgroup’s existence has been dependent on finding a home central to the village which is also convenient for parents bringing older children to the local schools. Work has already begun in the construction of the new site in a race to make it ready for the return to school in September.
The new setting will consist of a spacious, refurbished modular building within a specially-landscaped setting. Plans for the outdoor space include an exciting and stimulating play area within the securely fenced boundary. In its new setting, RoT’s pre-school playgroup can operate independently, previously not possible while located within SNA. This means that Playgroup soon hopes to be able to offer wrap-around care, something which is in great demand by parents within the village and local area.
Securing this new site has only has only been possible with the help of various supporters, including Nottinghamshire County Council, generous donations from multiple local groups and fundraising by Playgroup’s dedicated committee and staff members. Playgroup would like to say an extra special thanks to SNA, particularly its Head teacher, Dan Philpotts, whose support (in accommodating Playgroup within SNA’s grounds for the last several years) has allowed Playgroup to grow from humble beginnings to the flourishing organisation it is now. Likewise, a huge thank you to so many others who have supported playgroup’s re-location up to this point.
