Gedling Borough Council is offering residents the chance to get rid of bulky waste for free for a limited period in January and February.
The collection, which is usually chargeable, will take place between Monday 18 January and Friday 26 February and the council will take away up to three bulky waste items from outside residents’ homes.
To take advantage of the offer, from the 4 January, residents can book a slot online at www.gedling.gov.uk/bulkywaste or contact them on 0115 901 3621. The number of collections per day are limited and they will be collected on specific days for certain areas.
Portfolio Holder for Environment, Councillor Peter Barnes said;
“This is the second year that we’ve run the amnesty and it was a very popular service last year. At this time of the year, people need to get rid of old goods and the free collection offer is a great opportunity to and it also has a knock on effect by reducing fly-tipping.”
Some items including rubble, baths, kitchen units and garden and building waste cannot be collected. For a full list of the items that can’t be collected people can visit www.gedling.gov.uk/waste
