A play area in Daybrook is to be officially opened by the Mayor of Gedling after receiving a £65,000 refurbishment.
The play area on Salop Street Recreation Ground, Daybrook, closed from the beginning of October, received a facelift and a new design aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years.
An official opening ceremony will take place at the play area at 11am on Friday 13 November. Children from nearby Arnbrook Primary School will also be attending the event.
Local contractors Proludic, based in West Bridgford, completed the work ahead of schedule. Rob Baker, Managing Director of Proludic said;
“Gedling Borough Council had a clear idea of exactly how they wanted the play area to look and we’re glad that we could help bring their vision to life. The play area was designed to meet the needs of children in the local area and we’re certain they’ll be pleased with the finished result.”
Along with traditional playground favourites, youngsters can now enjoy a multi-activity unit which includes 4 metre long monkey bars, a climbing wall, tubular slide and spinner. There is also a bowl swing, tic-tac-toe play panel and lottery play wheel, to encourage group play and social interaction.
Councillor Peter Barnes, Portfolio Holder for Environment said;
“This park was in desperate need of a refurbishment and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to help give the children in Daybrook a new play area to go to and a place where they can enjoy themselves.”
