Theatre and leisure centre open as normal during Arnold library revamp

Arnold Leisure Centre and the Bonington Theatre will be open as normal during the seven months that Arnold library is closed for refurbishments.

Nottinghamshire County Council is closing the library on Front Street from Tuesday 23 December until summer 2015 whilst a range of improvements including solar roof panels and an enhanced children’s library are carried out.

The Bonington Theatre and bar is providing an alternative space for library-run activities Rattle, Rhyme and Roll and the Reading Café to take place. Groups who usually meet in the library meeting room, such as U3A, Baby Ballet, Ernhale Town Women’s Guild and the Knit and Natter group are also moving next door to the theatre temporarily.

Nottinghamshire County Council has confirmed that during the temporary closure, there will be a mobile library service in the High Street car park on Saturdays from 9.30am – 3pm. Also, libraries in the surrounding area including Carlton, Calverton, Woodthorpe and Mapperley will extend their opening hours.

The Bonington Theatre has a busy season of shows and films ahead and the 2015 brochure will be out in January.

Classes at Arnold Leisure Centre such as Aqua Blast, Wet Workout, line dancing and yoga will all be running as normal whilst the library is closed. For details of what’s on go to www.gedling.gov.uk/leisure/leisurecentres/arnoldleisurecentre/
