Gedling Borough Council, the NHS and the British Red Cross are offering a free first aid session for young carers at a special event at the Bonington Theatre in October.
With support from the Nottingham North East CCG and the council, the British Red Cross is organising a free Everyday First Aid session for carers, aimed predominately at young carers, at the Bonington Theatre on Saturday 25 October from 1pm – 3pm to help carers feel more confident about giving first aid in times of emergency.
The training will cover; bleeding heavily, broken bones, burns, asthma attacks, sprains and strains, allergies and poisoning. The session will give participants the chance to learn the basic skills of first aid in real-life scenarios with real people.
Councillor Henry Wheeler, Portfolio Holder for Health and Housing said;
“We’re very pleased to be able to offer this training to carers who already do so much to help the people under their care. By making first aid simpler and easier to learn, we hope that people will be more confident and willing to use their first aid skills in an emergency.”
