Hopkinson Gallery, based on Station Street, and is an icon of Nottingham’s rich industrial history, once housing H. Hopkinson Ltd, an engineer’s merchant. It is now home to a small cluster of artists and retailers, full to the brim of creativity, playing host to vintage and antique businesses as well as facilities for small creative business and space for exhibitions.
This show is the second in a series of two exhibitions and is a collection of bizarre, brilliant, twisted and curious works of art. Izzy, one of the curators, commented “Hopkinson Gallery is completely overwhelmed and delighted to host ‘Balls, Bugs and Balloons’ – another unmissable show in the ‘Seen This?’ series. This is another show that is great for Hopkinson Gallery but more importantly, for the people of Nottingham who have the opportunity to view artwork of this calibre by high profile artists in a relaxed, intimate and welcoming gallery space. We believe artwork should be accessible to all and we hope that’s what we’re doing by hosting the show here.”
Izzy encourages everyone to come and view ‘Seen This?’, the exhibition brings world class works of art into the heart of Nottingham. Co-curator Andy Collishaw added “I’m delighted to have these pieces here – a small but perfectly formed exhibition.”
