Gedling Borough Council wants local residents to get involved in the planning of a new project, celebrating the railway history of Netherfield, after securing nearly £15,000 in funding for the project.
The council is holding a meeting on Wednesday 21 August at St George’s Centre, Netherfield at 7pm to discuss with residents how the Tracks in Time project should be programmed. Topics to discuss will include the activities and events that will take place and how the overall event will be delivered.
The council was awarded a Sharing Heritage grant from the Heritage Lottery of £9,900 to run the project along with a further grant of £4,565 from project partners Gedling Homes.
The organisers are looking for railway and local history enthusiasts, local performers willing to take part in short performances and any other local residents interesting in getting involved in this intergenerational community project.
The project will culminate in a railway heritage weekend for Netherfield, which will take place on the weekend of 23 and 24 November.
