Olympic torchbearer and local athlete Dan Edson will be inspiring youngsters at this year’s Papplewick play day when he helps with the sports day events and talks to them about his experience of being part of the Olympics.
A year on since the Olympics lit up the world, the legacy left by the huge sporting event lives on as young people will get the chance to see the torch that Dan carried the Olympic flame on, before they get a chance to show off their athletic skills in the fun sports day activities.
The free event takes place on Wednesday 24 July at The Village Hall Playing Field, Linby Lane, Papplewick. It begins at 1pm and finishes at 4pm and is primarily targeted at young children but there are activities suitable for all ages.
Other games and activities on the day include drumming workshops, den building, grass karts and more. All children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
The event is organised by Papplewick Parish Council, Gedling Borough Council and Gedling Play Forum.
