Council offers support to children’s groups

Gedling Borough Council is inviting local organisations and children’s groups that are concerned with children’s welfare and play to join the Gedling Play Partnership at its first meeting of 2013.

The partnership meets three times a year. The first meeting of 2013 will take place on 13 March at the Wollaton Avenue Community Centre in Wollaton.

The partnership includes a number of children’s agencies, parish councils, school clubs, awareness groups and many other local organisations who offer support through idea sharing, grant information, training, equipment hire and organising children’s play days and events.

Some of the key topics that the partnership discuss include raising the profile of play, encouraging more community involvement, improving the maintenance of parks and increasing the safety of children using parks and open spaces.

Councillor Kathryn Fox, Portfolio Holder for community development said; “The Gedling Play Partnership is a great organisation that is doing a lot of great work to help raise the importance of play for children. The work with groups like Debz4coffee and the Play Forum has seen real success and they need more people to get involved and help build on the great work they have already done”

Anyone who would like to join the group should contact Gedling Borough Council on 0115 901 3602 or by email at [email protected]
