The Nursery is privately owned and located within Roko Health Club, but is open to members and non-members alike. Their partnership with Roko means that children attending Tiny Talkers benefit from the use of the health club facilities, including use of the playing field and use of the studio for music and movement.
They also offer other services including Holiday Club, Parties and Before and After School Care.
The Nursery is jointly owned by Sarah and Steve Bond who are both from professional backgrounds – Sarah from Education and Steve from Social Care.
Sarah has been in education all her working life both in the secondary and early year’s sector. More recently she has specialised in promoting the importance of speech, language and communication in settings and schools across Leicestershire. Sarah is ‘hands on’ in the nursery and is committed to offering the best experiences for children and developing positive relationships with parents and carers.
Steve continues to work in Social Care as service lead for children in care in Leicester. Although less hands on in the nursery Steve is fully involved in overseeing the management of the Nursery.
Tiny Talkers ethos is firmly based on the belief that all children are unique and staff continually strive to provide the building blocks that each child needs to become an independent lifelong learner. Tiny Talkers recognises children’s individual interests and developmental stages and use these to provide activities to build their confidence, creativity and independence.
Tiny Talkers Day Nursery puts communication at the heart of everything that they do. All staff understand that communication is fundamental to every child’s development. The highly trained staff provide the right environment to ensure that all children have the opportunity to become confident and competent communicators. All the staff have had training in strategies to promote and develop language and communication from babies through to pre-school children.
There are cosy areas in all the rooms for children to relax with a book or chat to peers and staff. These areas help to develop a sense of well-being ensuring that children are happy and content in the nursery.
The nursery provides care and education within 3 age groups
The babies (from birth to approx 12/18 months)
The toddlers (from approx 12/18 months to 2½/3 years)
The pre-schoolers (from approx 2½/3 years to school age)
Each room is well equipped with high quality toys and resources which are age appropriate. Many of the resources are holistic and open ended to enable each child to develop their imagination and creativity.
The outdoors is well equipped and inviting offering children open ended resources, areas for sand and water, digging and growing as well as a slide, cars and a play house.
There are opportunities to use the playing field for games or even a visit to the den that children have created.
